For the past few years I have been traveling the Western States with a cabover pickup towing a sub-compact car and hauling a dirt bike and camping near dirt bike trail systems.
Although my setup worked reasonably well, I began to want a few things I didn't have. Mostly more fluid capacity. Clear, grey, and black water capacity. And propane capacity. And it would be nice to be able to haul all of my dirt bike paraphernalia inside.
I did not want a trailer so a ToyHauler was ruled out. Sometimes I have had to unhook my towed vehicle to get turned around. I park in tight areas sometimes and ya can't drive a trailer.
I wanted a truck with a garage in the rear. That is called a FunMover. But they costs more than I could afford.
The decision was made to convert a Uhaul truck using the utilities from the cabover camper.
Estimated completion time was around 2 months.
Actual completion was 6 months of 24/7. Design was accomplished during my sleep. My waking hours were spent working.
A slide show highlighting some of the progress can be downloaded from the link below. Mostly just framing and sheeting are shown. The wiring and plumbing, which took over half the time, were just not very photogenic.
There's about 100 pictures at about 10 seconds each so it takes a while to watch unless the forward arrow is used. Download is 6.1MB.
I have never done this kind of work but am fairly happy with the results. And ecstatic that it's finished. Well, mostly finished.
